Toronto, ON (February 17, 2017) – Dempsey Corporation, functional and specialty foods distributor across Canada and USA, has been featured in Food in Canada’s People on the Move section for December 2016 issue.
The Dempsey Food Team in Canada has been strengthened by Adeelah Saad joining as an Account Manager covering Western Canada late last year. Jeffrey Stolec has been promoted to Senior Account Manager in Ontario and Belinda Elysee-Collen is now Regional Sales Manager for Canada.

DEMPSEY’S 3 DIVISIONS COME TOGETHER AT A PARIS TRADE FAIR

Yolène Monedero from Amcan Ingredients’ Paris office, Lee Doan from the Industrial Division and Bridgitte Dempsey, representing the Beauty & Gifts Division all met up in Paris for the In-Cosmetics Show on April 12th 2016.
Yolène was attending the show to meet with her existing biotech customers and to find new prospects.
Lee attended the show in order to explore new opportunities in the Industrial team’s budding cosmetics project. More specifically he was looking for specialty raw ingredients to complement his existing range – for example, fragrances, seaweed (natural- agrimar) and collagen (for anti-age purposes).
Bridgitte assisted Lee in assessing the different raw-ingredients and weighing their appeal in the current cosmetics market. She was also keeping an eye out for emerging beauty trends.

 

DEMPSEY EMPLOYEES SPONSOR A FAMILY IN NEED FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Dempsey employees have come together to « adopt » a family in need for the holiday season and help make their festive wishes come true. 
The Community 55 charity assigned Dempsey with a single mother and her 2 sons, 12 & 16 years old.
The donation goal is to help bring them a Christmas meal, winter clothing and a special holiday gift.
Dempsey is looking forward to matching the final employee donation total.
Roxanne, Tessa, Karen & Grace from our Toronto office will be dropping off the meal, winter clothing and gift on December 18th.

 Already the family has expressed its gratitude. Karima, the mother, wrote the following:
"It was by great pleasure to talk to you, your action of adopting us this Christmas did brought tears into my eyes, the kids were jumping with happiness. We are alone in Canada, with no family, as the kid's father did passed away, so everyone that give us a smile or a helping hands, it really touch our heart, and we dont feel alone."

Rotman & Dempsey Unite for Summer Internship Program 

University of Toronto's Business school, Rotman School of Management and Dempsey are collaborating for the first time since President Bowes Dempsey attended U of T's business school in 1964. In fact, Bowes graduated as part of U of T's inaugural MBA class.

When asked what drew him to the program at the time, Bowes replied : "the novelty factor appealed to me and I was curious about what we could learn."

Currently ranked the #1 Business School in Canada, U of T's business program is the largest in the country with over 500 students across its 1st & 2nd year courses. It has an evenly mixed Canadian and International student body with an alumni from over 70 countries. 

Dempsey's Beauty & Gifts Division & the Purchasing team were keen to collaborate with the Rotman School of Management when hearing that many of their students were eager to find local summer placement positions. 

Chester Santiago started his position last week in Purchasing and Joseph Harb is joining the B&G team as of June 15th. Both internships will run until late August.

Dempsey Corporation national finalist for the Canadian Family Enterprise of the Year Achievement Award.

Dempsey Corporation was selected by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprises (CAFE) as one of the two national finalists for the Family Enterprise of the Year Achievement award. The award was presented at a gala dinner held at the Sheraton Toronto Hotel & Conference Centre in Toronto on June 8th 2013.

Established in 1986, the Family Enterprise of the Year Achievement award (FEYA) is given annually by CAFE to recognize, celebrate and promote the achievements of Canadian family businesses and the considerable contribution they make to both their local communities and our national economy. Prior recipients of this prestigious award include companies such as E.D. Smith & Sons Ltd. and Rogers Communications.
